A Prayer by devotee Rajanikanta sen

Rajanikanta Sen was a high devotee from Bengal in the early 20th century . His songs , often influenced by compositions of Rabindranath Tagore have a element of deep pathos and prayer . In this song he says — ” I feel ashamed when I think that you(god) know every feeling arising within my heart – both good and bad . I evade the watchful eye’s of other people and do what not ! I feel like shying away to think of all those thoughts . If I ever say anyone of those thoughts , they would never again sit with me in the same bed ……………………. ……………………and say , ‘ we abondon you ‘ . That is why i commit crimes and then wash off my hands to wear a garb of a sadhu . Then they say , ‘ he is a good man , always hari on his lips . ‘ I myself bring in those burden of sin and keep my heart darkened . Only to start back and see your watchful eyes behind me ! Then i collapse at your feet in shame and fear and say……. ……….’ I have been caught red handed . Now you do whatever you feel like . ‘ I feel ashamed when I think that you know every feeling arising within my heart – both good and bad . “
